Erin Stern
CEO & Co-Founder Camp Casco

Erin Stern is the CEO and president of Camp Casco, a camp for childhood cancer patients and survivors. She co-founded Camp Casco in 2014 along with Dr. Michael Goldberg. In college, Stern volunteered at a camp that benefited childhood cancer patients, and unable to find a similar camp in Massachusetts, she decided to create one. Camp Casco helps kids diagnosed with cancer create friendships that lead to lasting support systems. Through adventure, shared experiences, and lots of laughs, kids experience independence, increase self-esteem, and have fun in a safe and supportive environment.
Stern is a native of San Diego and a graduate of San Diego State University, where she earned her undergraduate degree in microbiology and health science. For her master's degree, she attended Harvard University, where she studied biological and biomedical sciences as a prestigious Ford Fellow. Afterwards, she earned a certificate in nonprofit management leadership from Boston University.
Stern's past work experiences include a variety of clinical and laboratory research positions. She was a research assistant in the emergency department of Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. At the University of California San Diego, Stern was a clinical research associate and managed several research projects for a surgical oncologist. Stern was also a research scholar at San Diego State University in the Doran Lab, where she earned national awards for her microbiology research, which focused on understanding the effects of pancreatic disease on the oral microbiome.
Outside of work, Stern loves volunteering in her community, and spending quality time with her husband and twin daughters. Family is everything to Stern, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
